Stop Bullying -Part 1

The topic that I chose to raise awareness for is Bullying. I think it has gotten quite bad over the years and needs to be constantly addressed.

The first concept for a poster that I have thought of is called “Zip it”. The first words will be large font and there will be picture of zipped up lips. The underneath that will be rest of the wording in smaller font. I think this concept will grab attention and speaks for itself.

The second concept is a chalkboard with the word Bullying on it being erased by a hand. Underneath that will be the words “Erase Bullying” in large font as well as the words “Speak Up”. I like this concept bullying is becoming a real problem for schools and by showing the chalkboard with the word being erased it gives hope to the whole issue.

The third concept is a poster with the words “Bullying Sucks!” in large font. Underneath that will be a picture of a large colorful lollipop. The colors will be bright and this will help get the attention of people walking by.

I am not sure which concept I will use for this assignment. I believe all three convey the message I am trying to make regarding Bullying. Please let me know which idea you guys like the best. Looking forward to your feedback.

Refugees Welcomed

For this assignment, I chose the political issue of Refugees. Today, due to many unfortunate events throughout the world, many people have been left without a country to call home. They are desperately seeking somewhere in the world where they can feel safe and start over. Unfortunately, there is a big stigma to these people and they are sometimes not wanted. Banned from certain countries and even denied entry upon arrival. It seems that the only place where a Refugee would be welcomed is the moon. This is the reason I chose to alter the infamous photo of the moon landing. I changed the American Flag with the Refugee Flag and added tents. I am hoping that this image will make someone stop and think about the struggles these people have had to endure. The hardships they have been burdened with and the feeling of not being wanted. In my opinion, this is a terrible way to feel, especially after all the pain and suffering they have already had to go through. I believe that the best place to display this artwork is in schools, government offices, museums, just about anywhere where people can see this and have more of an open-mind regarding the issue of Refugees.

Sketches forM2 Photomontage Assignment

Hi everyone,

There are many political issues that are important to me but for this assignment I chose three. They are Refugees, Wars, and Education. This is a very trying time in our country and throughout the world and I wanted to choose images that can be "hijacked" with issues we are dealing with today.

For my first issue, Refugees, I chose the famous photo of the Moon Landing. In the summer during the Olympics, I read an article that some athletes were refugees and were therefore part of the "refugee" team. As they did not have a country to represent and therefore no flag, they had designed their own flag. Worldwide there is an issue with refugees, no one wants them. This is where the idea came from with the moon. It seems that the only place that they would be welcomed is the moon. I thoughts to replace the American flag with the refugee flag and add some tents to the background. The title would be "Refugees Welcomed."

The second issue is War. War is a horrific part of our world, not only now but through history. How scary it must be for children looking up at the sky and instead of seeing a starry night, they see the sky lit up by bombs. Buildings destroyed and disaster everywhere they look. I thought the best image to use for this would be Starry Night by Van Gogh. I would add Bomber jets with missles, fire, and destruction. The title would be "Bombs Light Up the Sky."

The third issue that is important to me is Education. So many people cannot get an education because of money or other factors. Becoming educated in todays world needs strength, that's why I chose the famous ad "We Can Do It." I would change the image by adding a cap and gown, as well as a diploma in her hand. I am hoping that this will give people strength to achieve their dreams and goals.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing your feedback.
